When writing an ion, use the carat (^) to designate charges. For example, hydrogen ion should be written as H^+, while sulfate ion should be written as SO4^2-.
When writing reactions, please put spaces between coefficients and formulas, and separate chemical formulas with plus signs (+). Do not include states (e.g., aq)! For example, the dissociation of water should be entered as this:
H2O → 2 H^+ + OH^-
